Operation Encompass: Supporting Our Students

Dear Parent/Carer,

We are writing to inform you that New Leaf is participating in an important initiative called Operation Encompass. This initiative is designed to support children and young people who are affected by domestic abuse.

What is Operation Encompass?

Operation Encompass is a partnership between local police forces and schools. When police have been called to a domestic abuse incident where children are present or affected, the school will be informed before the start of the next school day. This information is shared confidentially with the school’s safeguarding team so that appropriate support can be given to the child or young person.

Why is this important?

Children who experience or witness domestic abuse can often feel anxious, upset, or distracted at school. By knowing about these incidents, our staff can ensure that the child receives the care and support they need, whether that’s emotional support, extra understanding, or simply being aware of their circumstances for that day.

Confidentiality

The information shared with us is treated with strict confidentiality. Only staff members who are directly involved in supporting the child’s well-being will be informed. This allows us to respond in a sensitive and timely manner.

Further Support

For more information, please read the full letter here.

If you have any questions about Operation Encompass or would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Miss C. Kirkham.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work together to ensure the safety and well being of all our students.

KS3 Curriculum Map 2024-25

We are pleased to share the KS3 Curriculum Map for the academic year 2024-2025. You can find the curriculum map under the Life at New Leaf section of our website, by navigating to KS3 Curriculum Map.

If you have any questions or need further information, please contact the school office.

Ofsted Inspection and Parent View Survey

Ofsted is inspecting your child's school and we would like to know what you think about the school. Your views are important to us.
If you are a registered parent or carer of a pupil at the school (including pupils on sick leave or who are temporarily excluded), you can share your views by completing Ofsted's online survey, Ofsted Parent View, at: https://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk
Ofsted Parent View asks for your opinion on various aspects of your child's school, including the progress your child has made, the quality of teaching, and how the school addresses bullying and poor behaviour. You also have the option to provide additional comments via the free-text box, if you wish. The inspection team will consider the survey responses as part of their assessment.
To share your views, you'll need to provide your email address, which will be securely held and only used to give you access to the online survey. Rest assured, neither the school nor Ofsted will have access to any email addresses.
Please complete the survey as soon as possible, ideally by 11am on the first day of the inspection, to ensure the inspection team can take your views into account. All responses completed during the inspection will be considered, but please note that the free-text box will close at noon on the final day of the on-site inspection.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback.
